Customer Review: Reliable and Stylish Summary: 5 Stars
I have owned a Simpletech Simpledrive for years. I think it is one of the first models of this Pinafarina style. It is only a 100 Gb drive and has been used off and on as long as I have had it. The drive has been dropped a few times off the top of my computer and has been transported for the past year in my laptop case. It has never failed and never given me any problems. I am going to buy another one only because I need a larger capacity drive now due to our growing collection of music and pictures. I love the style, the ease of use and the reliability of this drive and that it works with just a USB cord to both power it and transfer data.
Customer Review: Love it!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I have four of these at various sizes and just ordered a fifth. All are in great working order. None have failed. Two are over two years old and each was used daily as the My Documents folder on Windows XP and Vista. So by daily use, I do mean daily use. The other two and the third are being used as backup devices. Based on many of the comments, a lot of unhappy users were depending on one drive to contain critical files. I recommend more than a single backup drive. The more devices (drives, CDs, or DVDs) where your data exists, then the less likely you'll be to lose something. All drives, will at one time or another, crash.
Customer Review: Quality Portable Hard Drive Summary: 5 Stars
I have two of these portable hard drives. They are very small. The USB cable that is included has two connections, one for data transfer, and one for additional power. The hard drive will work with only one connection, but the transfer speed is slower. So if you lose your cable any mini USB cable will work, but they will be slow. They run very quietly. There is a lower light and an activity light on top. There is a port on the back for power, but an adapter is not included. I have been very pleased with their performance. I use them for backups, so I cannot comment on speed when playing movies or music.
Customer Review: 1 year of ownership Summary: 5 Stars
So I bought this drive from a different vendor but since amazon is a common place for reviews, why not come here and give my 2 cents.
This hard drive is great, it works as expected. To those who complain about this external failing its mostly due to the shipping process since hard drives are prone to damage.
for 500gb and it STILL COST $100!! yeah its not worth it anymore
you can buy a 1tb for the same cost.
this hard drive is great an all but as of now, you can double your space for the SAME cost.
